As a participant in a Genealogy Intensive™, you agree to the following:
Each Genealogy Intensive™ event (“Genealogy Intensive”) is produced by Hack Genealogy. Please read the following Terms and Conditions carefully BEFORE you make payment and register for any Genealogy Intensive. By registering for a Genealogy Intensive, a registrant (“Participant”) agrees to the following terms and conditions:
Registration and Payment
- Participant will be asked to first pay the Genealogy Intensive registration fee via PayPal prior to receiving the Getting Started packet and joining the Closed Facebook Group, accessing the Online Sessions and other features of the specific Genealogy Intensive.
- Participant does not need a PayPal account to make payment; Registrant can use a valid credit card or, if Participant has an active PayPal account, other forms of payment.
- If at any time a Participant is not satisfied with any aspect of a Genealogy Intensive, the registration fee will be refunded in full, via PayPal.
Getting Started Information
A Getting Started packet will be sent to each Participant’s provided e-mail address within 24 hours of payment being received and processed by PayPal.
Participants are asked not to share any access information outside the group of paid Participants. Any Participant not identified as having paid and registered will be blocked from the Genealogy Intensive and barred from future Hack Genealogy events.
Online Session Platform
Each Genealogy Intensive will use the GoToMeeting platform from Citrix. GoToMeeting is similar to GoToWebinar, and is a commonly used webinar platform within the genealogy and family history community. Visit http://www.gotomeeting.com/online/meeting to learn more.
Webinar Broadcasting and Recording
Participants are prohibited from creating their own recording of any portion of a Genealogy Intensitve. In addition, Participants are prohibited from staging a “broadcast event” where the webinar is broadcast to a live audience such as at a genealogy society meeting. Organizations wishing to be part of a Hack Genealogy event, should contact firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss discount rates for broadcast.
It is the responsibility of Participant to know the start time of each Online Session offered during a Genealogy Intensive. Each session will start promptly at the advertised time and each presentation will last sixty (60) minutes.
Connection and Technical Difficulties
Hack Genealogy is not responsible for any connection difficulties by Participant. Visit http://support.citrixonline.com/en_us/gotomeeting/help_files/gtm140010 to test a computer connection.
Limited Number of Participants
Each Genealogy Intensive is limited to a maximum of thirteen (13) Participants, with a minimum of six (6) Participants required for each Genealogy Intensive. If a Genealogy Intensive is cancelled due to under-enrollment, all registration fees will be refunded in full via PayPal.
All handout materials are copyrighted by their respective authors with all rights reserved. The instructors/authors work hard to create each handout (each one can take up to 20 hours of time to write and format). Handouts are for the personal use of Participants who have paid registration. Participants are asked not to post handouts in whole or in part or as a file anywhere on the Internet or print and distribute the handouts. Please respect copyright.
Each Online Session will be recorded and made available to attendees no later than twenty-four (24) hours after the start of the respective session. Each Participant will receive an email with information about accessing these recordings. A password will be required to access the recording and the recording cannot be copied or downloaded; the recording must be viewed on the webpage via hyperlink sent to each registrant.
Genealogy Intensive Content
Hack Genealogy reserves the right to repackage and re-purpose and or all Genealogy Intensive content including, but not limited to, licensing content such as recordings and handouts, to other third parties.
The privacy of Participants in each Genealogy Intensive is important to us at Hack Genealogy. Comments and feedback made during the Genealogy Intensive will not be publicly accessible at any time; Participants are asked not to publicly share comments and feedback from other Participants. In addition, as a Genealogy Intensive Participant, you agree that your voice and text input, including chat logs, will be recorded during each Online Session and access made available to all Participants of the specific Genealogy Intensive. For any other use by Hack Genealogy, we will ask for your permission in writing.
Hack Genealogy is not responsible for errors, omissions, interruptions, deletions, defects in part or whole, delays in operations or transmission, of handout materials, or for any technical or non-technical network, telephonic, electronic, computer, hardware or software malfunctions of any kind, or inaccurate or partial transmission of or failure to access webinar content on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet, at any web site or any combination thereof. Hack Genealogy is not responsible for any injury or damage to Participant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from accessing any materials during a Genealogy Intensive.
By participating in a Genealogy Intensive, Registrant agrees to release and hold Hack Genealogy and all Presenters harmless from any and all losses, damages, rights, claims, and actions of any kind in connection with Hack Genealogy content and events.
